Co-Founder and Executive Vice President, SAS

John Sall heads JMP Statistical Discovery LLC, a wholly owned subsidiary of SAS, which creates interactive and highly visual statistical discovery software designed for scientists and engineers. As a co-founder of SAS, he designed, developed and documented many of its earliest analytical procedures. Sall is a Fellow of the American Statistical Association and the American Association for the Advancement of Science. Reflecting his passion for global conservation and environmental issues, he served on a variety of boards, including the World Wildlife Fund, the Smithsonian Institution’s National Museum of Natural History and The Nature Conservancy. Sall is a former trustee of North Carolina State University.

Andrea Coombs

Senior Systems Engineer, JMP

As a Senior Systems Engineer, Andrea Coombs supports customer development and sales for some of JMP’s biggest customers. Andrea has more than 20 years of experience in applied analytics in several industries, including pharmaceutical manufacturing, pharmaceutical R&D, and agricultural research. She holds undergraduate and graduate degree in life sciences from Michigan State University. Prior to joining JMP, Andrea served as Senior Industry Consultant for SAS, Senior Data Administrator for the American Board of Emergency Medicine, and Senior Manager of Manufacturing Science and Technology at Emergent Biosolutions.

Michael Goff

Sr. Software Developer, JMP

Michael Goff is a Software Developer at JMP. He joined JMP in 2015 while completing his master's degree in computer science from North Carolina State University. Goff has worked on JMP Live since early in its development. He primarily works on developing the JMP Live user experience and application API.

Michael Hecht

Principal Systems Developer, JMP

Michael Hecht is a Principal Systems Developer for JMP Statistical Discovery. He helped create JMP 1.0 in 1989 and has worked on every version of JMP since. Michael currently leads the team that brings JMP to the Macintosh. In his spare time, he enjoys researching family genealogy, singing with local choir groups, and sampling microbrews.

Julian Parris

Director, Research and Development, JMP

Julian Parris is a Director of Research and Development for JMP Statistical Discovery LLC, a SAS company specializing in interactive desktop software for dynamic data visualization and analysis. Julian leads the department responsible for foundational parts of JMP software, including the data table, data visualization, data preparation, and scripting.

Levannia Lildhar

Data Scientist, Siemens Healthineers

Levannia Lildhar is a data scientist for Siemens Healthineers based in Ottawa. A member of the company’s product health team, Lildhar uses applied statistics to support work in field biosensor performance monitoring, calibration and validation of new R&D sensor technology. She holds a master’s in data science from the University of British Columbia and undergraduate degrees from the University of Ottawa in chemical engineering and biochemistry. Her research has been published in the Journal of Genome Biology and Evolution and the Journal of Biomedical Materials Research. She is also a co-host of The Secret Life of Numbers, a podcast where she discusses numbers in everyday life.

Michael Akerman

Lead Data Science Engineer, Novozymes

Michael Akerman serves as Lead Data Science Engineer for Novozymes’ Agriculture & Industrial Biosolutions division. Though Akerman, who has a background in chemical engineering, began his career at Novozymes in biofuels experimentation, he now leads statistical implementation as part of a global focus within R&D for a more effective data strategy. Over the course of his 15-year career with the company, Akerman has worked at the intersection of laboratory biochemistry research and data programming – and become an outspoken voice for enterprise data literacy. “I want science to be more data driven,” he says. “I think there's a lot of science that's done at a gut instinct level with older methods focused on a single factor at a time – or even on observation and intuition. And it’s just not sufficient, given the complexities of the world we live in.”

Julia O’Neill

Founder & Principal Consultant and former Distinguished Fellow, Moderna Therapeutics

Julia O’Neill is a leader in nonclinical and chemistry, manufacturing, and controls (CMC) for the development of control strategies and application of quantitative sciences in biopharmaceuticals. She previously led CMC Modeling and Statistics for Moderna as a member of the Technical Development Leadership Team. As a Fellow of the American Society for Quality, O’Neill has consulted supporting approval of multiple accelerated products including gene therapy, microbiome, and regenerative medicine. O’Neill previously worked at Merck as Senior Scientific Fellow in Statistics in Regulatory & Analytical Sciences and as Director in Global Technical Operations, with a primary focus on vaccines and biologics. She has over 30 years of experience bridging statistics and chemical engineering, with an MS in Statistics from the University of Wisconsin, and a BS in Chemical Engineering from the University of Maine.

Suzanne Simard

Professor of Forest Ecology, University of British Columbia

Dr. Suzanne Simard is the leader of The Mother Tree Project, which researches forest renewal practices that protect biodiversity against climate change. Dr. Simard’s work has been published widely, with over 170 scientific articles in peer-reviewed journals, including Nature, Ecology, and Global Biology. She is also co-author of the book Climate Change and Variability.
