Health and Safety

As much as we’re looking forward to being together at SAS world headquarters in September, we know that some things are more important. Your health and well-being, for instance. And ours too!

So, we’re planning this event with health and safety in mind. We’ve designed the agenda and the floorplan to keep people -- and air -- moving. We’re enhanced our cleaning protocols. And we’ve made sure that fresh air is never too far away. In fact, the evening socials will be entirely outside, weather permitting.

In addition, SAS and JMP have implemented Covid-related rules adapted from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), the World Health Organization (WHO), and local health authorities. They are as follows:

  • If you are fully vaccinated* you are welcome to register and attend this event. However, please be prepared to show your vaccination card(s) if asked.
  • At this time, masks are optional and will be provided for any attendees who request them.
  • Attendees are asked to be respectful of fellow data explorers by maintaining personal space whenever possible, washing hands frequently and thoroughly, and leaving at the first sign of illness.
  • To minimize the number of people, non-registered guests are not permitted at any portion of the in-person segments of Discovery Summit this year.
  • Each day, before coming onto SAS property, all attendees must complete a self-screening. If the answer to any of the following questions is “Yes” you may not join the remaining in-person components of the conference.
    • Do you have a fever, chills, shortness of breath, difficulty breathing, new cough, or new loss of taste or smell?
    • Have you had close contact (within six feet for a cumulative total of 15 minutes or more over a 24-hour period) in the last 14 days with someone diagnosed with Covid-19, or has a health department or health care provider contacted you and advised you to isolate or quarantine at this time?
    • Have you been diagnosed with Covid-19 in the last 10 days?

Please note that registrants who cannot attend Discovery Summit Americas in-person because of Covid-19-related concerns may request a full refund at any time before the conclusion of the conference.

All attendees are expected to abide by these rules. If you are unable or unwilling to do so, please do not attend. We will continue to monitor guidance from CDC, WHO and local health officials, and may choose to adapt our protocol at any time. We appreciate your help in making Discovery Summit a safe place to learn and grow.

*What does fully vaccinated mean?

A person is considered fully vaccinated 14 days after receiving either of the following:

  • The second dose in a two-dose series such as the Pfizer, Moderna, AstraZeneca, Covaxin, Covishield, BIBP, or Sinovac vaccines.
  • A single-dose vaccine such as Johnson & Johnson's Janssen vaccine.

This guidance applies to Covid-19 vaccines authorized for emergency use by WHO or approved for full use by the FDA on or before January 25, 2022. The full list of emergency use and authorized vaccines can be found on this FDA web page.
